Not a card today but a fat book page swap

This is another swap that I signed up for in a group I joined.

Theme – Butterflies

What is a fat book page?

Well its a piece of sturdy card that measures 4”x4”

It has to be decorated on one side leaving around 1cm free at the left hand side – on the reverse you have to have a small amount of decoration together with details of maker etc.

I have put this swap off for a week or more as I had no ideas what to do

I think I'm now in a rutt with my stamping – I seem to just distress ink the edges and stamp in the centre

This morning I was filled with inspiration so set to work on it

To start with I used a piece of heavy card – like chipboard and stuck a sheet of pink paper to the back – the paper has lines of heavy glitter every cm or so...

I added a butterfly that I stamped onto magic foil then added my name and swap details as well as date and email address.

I trimmed a piece of kraft card to 4x4 and got out my pots of

Fran-tage, only problem I then had – was how on earth do I use it?

You tube to the rescue.

I had tried to use a versamark pad and then add some Fran-tage but it wasn't sticking

After watching some demo's I found out the fran-tage is literally dropped onto a piece of card and heated from behind – and it starts to melt it all melts together creating a fab effect

So I made up my own collection using a little of each pot I had – covered the square of card randomly placing high piles and then heated it up.

For my butterflies I made using 3 different techniques

I used versamark and gold magic foil, covered with clear embossing powder – heated then cut out the shiny gold butterfly.

Next butterfly was created by spraying a sheet of white smooth card with 4 different Cosmic Shimmer mists – basically they have fancy names but colour wise I used red, gold, green and copper...the sheet was covered then I used the heat gun to dry the sheet...after that I used a versamark pad to stamp the butterfly and covered with black detail embossing powder then heated, once cool I cut it out and put to one side.

The last technique was metal magic – so I used a versamark ink pad on a piece of white card, covered with antique gold metal magic and heated from underneath – I repeated 3 times and then stamped the butterfly into the melted gold – within moments it was cold and as I lifted the butterfly stamp it left a good deep impression which I cut out.

So now I have 3 different butterflies – so using pinflare silicone gel I attached each butterfly by the body around the 4x4 page.

The versamark ink pad was rubbed around the outer edges of the fat book page and then I covered with black granite embossing powder and heated which filled the edges perfectly.

To finish off I added small AB gems randomly and lastly a few Tim Holtz chitchat stickers and a small punched flower

Even though this is a million miles from my sort of crafting I think I'm pleased with it – I know I will find it hard to let it go...but never mind – I can try again – and its going to be one of those things where I will never get it exactly the same again...
