Sweethoots

Hi
I think you will all like today's card!
You all know I love owls – and it seems so do 93% of the population so no wonder the sheet designers are jumping in and coming up with sheets, kits and cds full of owl items
Well this is made using a mini kit – that's a single sheet that has the card front together with the decoupage elements and then a blank insert to match
This is by my favourite designer Janet Briggs – its called Be My Sweethoot and was bought from www.craftuprint.com
So materials for this card I used ….
Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...
A4 sheet of black card
Main design and the insert sheets
A5 silver mirri card
5 clear AB gems
Sticky pads
Eazi Score Board & tool
Tonic 8” guillotine
Scissors
Tweezers
Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com
Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat
To make the card …
I scored and folded the black card to make a standard A5 card blank
I then cut the A5 piece of silver mirri card down a little to leave the border all round – before I stuck this to the card I used a small corner punch on all 4 corners – added double sided tape and stuck in place
The main card front was cut from the sheet and again I used the corner punch on all corners then stuck in place with double sided tape.
There isn't a great deal to be cut out on the sheet but I will say the leaves and branch are tricky – I only really noticed once I had used sticky pads and fixed the branch layer in place that I hadn't cut away all the white but it was too late by then – luckily it doesn't show too much.
The owl decoupage was all cut out and attached with sticky pads.
The sentiment panel was cut out and put in place with a few larger sticky pads this time.
The sheet offered 3 small printed circles which I decided to cut out and added to the panel between the sentiment at the bottom and the owl design at the top.
To embellish I used glossy accents on the blacks of the eyes, the beaks and all the green leaves.
Once that was properly dry I added a touch of glamour dust to the eyes for sparkle.
I used a clear AB gem in the centre of the 3 printed circles and one at either end of the sentiment.
The insert had a verse added before it was printed – all it needed was trimming to fit – folding in half and all the corners punched to match the card front
Although this is made as a Valentines Card it could just as easily be for an anniversary or even just a birthday – because it comes with a blank insert you decide what to add...and on the sheet there is a blank sentiment panel to add your own text!!!
Its another card in my “to use or sell” box
See you again tomorrow friends!
x
