A rubber stamped effort!

Well it's been another super sunny day here in Hull – so I've had another lazy afternoon in the garden reading my book – oh I love it!!!

As some of you know I am not known for rubber stamping – I buy them – and lots of them too – but don't often do anything with them!

So when I went to the recent Harrogate Show and spent lots on rubber stamps I made a promise I would start using them!

And I did!

I stamped out half a dozen images and coloured them using my pro-markers – and I was so pleased with the results!

On Saturday we came across a new craft shop inside a newly opened Garden Centre and I bought lots more new stamps – again determined to make use of them.

Then my hubby got permission to take and talk about the birds of prey at the garden centre so we decided I would make a few Owl related greeting cards to take along and hopefully sell to raise a little much needed money...

I had bought a super Owl stamp by IndigoBlu so decided I would set to and get some cards made!

I have completely finished 5 x A5 size and have the toppers ready for making into cards on around 12 smaller cards so ok so far!

This card is a normal A5 folded card – I used a piece of pattern paper from The Woodland Folk paper pad – cutting the edges with a deckle edged trimmer. The paper was then positioned centrally leaving a border all round to show the brown card blank.

I used my Nestabilities Grande Labels 4 to create a mat of dark green and then a size smaller to cut the panel to stamp onto.

I stamped the owl centrally on the white panel and colour tinted the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads – in shades of pale greens – sorry cannot recall which ones!

I used a few pro-markers to colour the owl – a couple of light browns and a grey as well as a blender – I was quite impressed with the finished look!

Stuck the stamped panel to the green mat and that to the front of the card

I tied a small green spotty ribbon bow for the top right corner and used a circular printed sentiment which I dabbed with distress ink to finish!

Would love to know what you think of my efforts! And please be totally honest – I will never learn if I'm not told where I am going wrong!!
