Hello Doily

Hi
I have had a lovely quiet day on the craft room and I am so pleased with my efforts too
I made something fab to share then looked at a blog challenge I joined once – and got 2nd place – to see what this weeks theme was and that was it – I made another this time to fit the theme!
The site is The Sunday Challenge – a theme is set and you have to design something to fit it – his week its Hello Doily – the only rule – it HAS to have something on it from a CD
So this is what I have made to submit...
So materials for this card I used ….
Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...
White A4 card
Pink spotty backing paper from KANBAN SEASONS cd rom
A doily
Pink with gold trim wavy line peel offs
Waste peel off bits...hearts and lines
7 tiny dark pink buttons
Scrap white grosgrain ribbon and pink Baby Girl peel off
Tiny pink safety pin
New Baby tag
Sticky pads
Eazi Score Board & tool
Tonic 8” guillotine
Scissors
Tweezers
Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com
Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat
To make the card …
The backing paper was printed to 128gsm matt photo paper then the back was sprayed with Crafters Companion Stick & Stay then secured to the A4 white card
I scored the card on the Eazi Score board on t he A4 gatefold lines
I had the template for this in my box of templates so have no idea who designed it or where it came from – so traced the pattern and transferred it to the back of the card with a ball tool
The main cardigan shape was cut out then the sleeves were drawn and cut out – oh and the 2 pockets
I used a ball tool and the cm side of Houghie Board to score lines along the cuffs and fronts of the cardigan to act as welts
I used sticky pads along one side of the sleeve and secured to the card base then did the same with the other sleeve
I next cut 2 pieces of paper covered card measuring 2cm x 17cm and edged these with pink and gold edged peel offs – I used the peel offs on the sleeve ends and bottom of cardigan fronts too.
One the left side panel I added 7 evenly spaced tiny dark pink buttons and the tiny hearts which is left behind when the heart border peel off was used in between.
One the other panel I used small sections of wavy peel off to look like button holes
Just inside the card I added the small piece of grosgrain ribbon with pink Baby Girl on it.
The pockets were popped pattern side down on a foam mat and I used the shaping tool in a circular motion to plump up the pocket – I added a large sticky pad them attached to the card front
Now to the doily – I folded it in half then cut out the solid centre.
The frilly bit was then cut into 4 pieces.
I started with a piece of narrow red double sided tape and gathered the doily then attached to the collar – I repeated this with another piece of doily and added to the other side of the collar.
I had to cut the remaining 2 pieces down even more to use on the pockets but basically I did the same thing – used red tape and gathered the doily as I went along...then added to the top of the pockets
Finally I cut a small piece of white 3mm ribbon, thread it through a New Baby tag and attached to the lace collar with pink safety pin!
And that concluded the card of the day!
I think it looks fab – the 1st one I did was a different colour and was made differently so you will see it another time...
Ok – time for food!!!
Another card for the “to use or sell” box
Right that's all for today – same place tomorrow!
x

  1. Hi Angela
This is a lovely card for our challenge but you need to check your link. You have linked up to your entry to our Vintage Vogue Challenge.
Can you please redo your link so that my fellow teamies don't have to search.
