Shaped Topper

Hiya

As I said yesterday I would share the photo of the other cards I made for the 2nd sheet I printed out.

The printed sheet was taken from a Crafters Companion CD Rom called Beatrix Potter Everyday & Winter

I have used 3 different backing papers that were actually taken from a Kanban CD Rom called Kanban Stamped Backgrounds – why it has such a title I don't know as it is the most beautiful backing papers - now I have seen it I know it will get a whole lot of use as the papers come in lots of colour ways and styles so ideal for all occasions.

So materials for this card I used ….

Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...

White A4 card stock

Printed sheet

3 different A4 backing papers

Dark blue A4 card stock

PVA glue – I use Cosmic Shimmer

Glamour dust

Corner Chomper – any corner rounder will do.

Double sided tape

Sticky pads

Eazi Score Board & tool

Tonic 8” guillotine

Scissors

Tweezers

Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com

Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat

To make the card ...

I used the Eazi score board and tool to score line 7 onto the white card to create the card blank – I have used landscape (often called tent fold)

I trimmed one of the backing papers down to fit the card front leaving a chunky all round border – then rounded the corners using a corner chomper. This was then stuck to the card with double sided tape.

The dark blue card was next to be cut down – this was to fit on top of the backing paper – a border all round then rounded the corners and stuck in place with double sided tape.

Using the 2nd backing paper I cut a piece to fit on the dark blue I cut it so I had wider borders at the sides but narrower top and bottom – corners were rounded and then this layer stuck in place with double sided tape.

From the printed design sheet I cut the paper ribbon and using a wider double sided tape I attached this across the centre of the card – it was a perfect fit from left to right edge.

I cut the largest topper from the sheet – taking care not to damage the remaining 2 toppers -then matted it to a piece of dark blue card leaving a border, because of the shape of the topper its width of border differs.

I positioned this panel in the centre of the card – I then stuck the panel with large sticky pads.

Finally it was down to the sentiment which I trimmed, layered onto a piece of dark blue card leaving a narrow border then fixed across the top left corner using a large sticky pad.

I had 1 sheet of backing paper left so folded in half and stuck inside the card as an insert – because I also printed a general insert I cropped this one down a bit then punched 2 corners using a Martha Stewart Snowflake corner punch.

Lastly its the decorating – I used Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue on the top of walls and bricks here and there on the bridge then covered with glamour dust and left it to dry.

Using the quickie glue pen I highlighted the snowy ground then covered with glamour dust – once the PVA had tried I shook away all the excess glitter to reveal a lovely card.

I do hope you like the card – and more so that what is left has been used to create the card for tomorrow – at least after that you can have a break from Beatrix Potter...

Hope to see you then....

Rectangle Beatrix Potter Card

Hiya

A few days ago – well with my sense of time it could even be as far back as 10 days – I shared a card I had made using left over toppers from a printed sheet. Today I am sharing the initial card I printed the sheet out for....

A scrap of silver mirri card

PVA glue – I use Cosmic Shimmer

Glamour dust

Corner Chomper – any corner rounder will do.

Double sided tape

Sticky pads

Eazi Score Board & tool

Tonic 8” guillotine

Scissors

Tweezers

Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com

Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat

To make the card ...

I used the Eazi score board and tool to score line 7 onto the white card to create the card blank – I have used landscape (often called tent fold)

I trimmed one of the backing papers down to fit the card front leaving a narrow all round border – then rounded the corners using a corner chomper. This was then stuck to the card with double sided tape.

The dark blue card was next to be cut down – this was to fit on top of the backing paper – a border all round then rounded the corners and stuck in place with double sided tape.

Using the 2nd backing paper I cut a piece to fit on the dark blue I cut it so I had wide borders at the sides but narrow top and bottom – corners were rounded and then this layer stuck in place with double sided tape.

From the printed design sheet I cut the paper ribbon and using a wider double sided tape I attached this across the centre of the card – it was a perfect fit from left to right edge.

I cut the largest topper from the sheet – taking care not to damage the 4 square toppers -then matted it to a piece of dark blue card leaving a narrow border.

I positioned this panel more towards the top of the card so I had room to add my sentiment – I stuck the panel with double sided tape.

Finally it was down to the sentiment which I trimmed, layered onto a scrap of silver mirri card then a piece of dark blue card leaving a narrow border on each layer.

The panel was then attached just below the main image with double sided tape.

I had 1 sheet of backing paper left so folded in half and stuck inside the card as an insert – because I also printed a general insert I cropped this one down a bit then punched 2 corners using a Martha Stewart Snowflake corner punch.

Lastly its the decorating – I used Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue on the top of the closest tree and along the sky/snow border line then covered with glamour dust and left it to dry.

Using the quickie glue pen I highlighted the trees and the snowy ground then covered with glamour dust – once the PVA had tried I shook away all the excess glitter to reveal a lovely card.

Although I say what I have used for my cards – my preferred brand of goods is just my choice – you can use what suits you – like the PVA there are many good glues available and they will all work well – I just use Cosmic Shimmer as its my 1st choice – and the glitter I use Glamour dust but also Debbi Moore, Dovecraft and more...

What I will just say is don't go for the cheapest as its not always value for money – no point saving money then using twice as much to get the effect...at the same time you don't have to have the named goods...own brands work well in some cases....

I do hope you like the card – and if you back track my blog you will find the 4 panel card I made using the left overs from this one sheet – that's value for money on my mind – 2 wonderful cards from one sheet...and tomorrow I will show you what I did with the other sheet I printed!

Hope to see you then....

Saucy - Do NOT look if offended easily!

Good evening

This is something a tad RISQUE/SAUCY...but fun

I really hope nobody will be offended by this card

It is something I made for my hubby when I was fairly new to card making – cant you tell?

Must be around 9 years ago...

It was coming close to his birthday – so was most likely around this time of the month

I wanted to make him a card rather than buy – after all I considered I had talent...that's a joke!!!

So as I had bought a pack of assorted heat embossed items from Ebay I had a rummage through – it was full of the normal stuff – butterflies, bug, books, but there was just one of these huge embossed basques in it

Well that got me thinking...it would certainly be unique..

and he would think it was fab

So I grabbed a card blank – looking at it still makes me cringe – where and why did I buy such appalling card blanks? I mean it really was plain don't you agree?

But in its favour was the fact it was a perfect fit for this basque.

To really jazz it up I started by adding 2 tongue bars through the boobs – then added a bit of stuffing to round the boobs and make them more appealing

Next I stuck a little white lace around the top and bottom of the basque

A small cream bow was stuck between the cleavage which worked really well.

And now I really do cringe – why oh why did I add that small black feather there? No explanations needed!

Needless to say hubby thought the card was brilliant – so much so that when we were putting furniture and stuff back in the bedroom after finishing decorating he came across it in one of his drawers – together with another 2 saucy cards that I may show another time...you never know!!!

There is just the one photo of this card – that was all that was needed!!

Well I do hope I will still see you all again tomorrow...

That's if I haven't offended all my followers

Baubles and Tree...

Hiya

I am so pleased to see the number of followers slowly rising and just look at the page views – doesn't seem that long ago I was mentioning we weren't far off the 10.000 views mark....kept it up my special circle of friends...

Today's card is a pretty christmas card that has the added interest in that it has a matching book mark – and I love the way it matches the design so well that it is hard to see its completely removable – mind you looking at the poor pictures I've taken you are going to have to take my word for it cos I haven't got them all lined up for the photos..

The sheet was purchased from www.craftsuprint.com and the sheet is available in several colours but for this card the item number is 354140_123 and its designed by Robyn Cockburn

So materials for this card I used ….

Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...

Lilac A4 card stock

Printed sheet

Crafters Companion iridescent glitter spray

Double sided tape

Sticky pads

Eazi Score Board & tool

Tonic 8” guillotine

Scissors

Tweezers

Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com

Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat

To make the card ...

I scored the lilac card on line 7, folded and scored while it was still on the Eazi Score board then spun it and scored on line 7 again – this time I cut that section off which left me with the square card blank

I cut out the base image from the sheet and used double sided tape to secure the sheet to the card blank – I left a small border all around.

Next I cut out the pouch that was designed to fit on the card front for the bookmark to fit into – so once cut out I scored on the lines wither side and one at the bottom, these were folded over and double sided tape was added to the folded sections only

This pouch was matched up to the design of the sheet and then pressed into place.

There wasn't any decoupage as such just the ribbon and the bow so after cutting out they were attached with small sticky pads

I placed the card onto a sheet of old card and sprayed the front with the Crafters Companion iridescent glitter and set to one side to dry for a while

Using the left over piece of card from making the card blank, I cut the book mark out, scored along the score line, placed a piece of the lilac card stock inside and taped it all up carefully with double sided tape and fold. It was a perfect match to the card behind it and the pouch in front of it!

I decided not to add glitter to the bookmark in the hope the recipient will realise its unglittered and take a look – what a nice surprise then....

As I said this comes in several colours – I have done this lilac one, a teal colour and a pretty green one so far..

Its like a card and small gift in one!

4 Toppers Card

Hi again

Well this is the 2nd visit of the day for me – as I explained in the last post I didn't have any internet access so couldn't post yesterday

Anyway its all up and running again – something to do with the provider switching systems or something like that....

For the card I am now sharing there is a story behind it in that I had decided to put together a project for my Thursday group and for that I used a lovely cd from Crafters Companion called Beatrix Potter Papercrafting Collection...

I printed out 2 sheets of toppers as couldn't decide which I liked the best – in the end I made up 2 cards which was 1 from each sheet – so my Tuesday ladies also got a treat with a project

What generally happens when I do a project with just 1 thing from a sheet I find people just throw the rest of the sheet in the bin so sat and made up a few cards using the other toppers...they went down so well.

This is one of the cards I made using the left overs of a sheet.

So materials for this card I used ….

Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...

8x8 scallop edged card

Printed design sheet

Printed backing paper

Sheet of dark blue card

Silver patterned mirri card

Tumbled glass distress ink pad by Tim Holtz

Blending tool

Sakura quickie glue pen

Glamour dust iridescent glitter

Glossy accents

Double sided tape

Sticky pads

Eazi Score Board & tool

Deckle edge cutter

Tonic 8” guillotine

Scissors

Tweezers

Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com

Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat

To make the card ...

I started by using the blending tool with a foam pad and Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink pad – I worked the colour onto the edges of the scalloped card, I only went in about 2 cm as I knew less than that would be showing.

I cut a piece of pale blue check like paper to fit the card leaving a narrow all round border.

Then I cut the remaining 4 toppers from my sheet – trimmed them all to the same size, next I cut 4 panels from the patterned silver mirri cards = these were just a tad bigger than the topper.

I measured the size of the silver panel and added around 1cm to the dark blue card but this time I cut the 4 panels using a deckle edge trimmer.

After sticking the topper to the silver mirri panel and these 2 to the dark blue panel I had an equal border between all layers, these were all stuck in order using double sided tape.

After all 4 were done I sat them onto my card front and shuffled them around until I had them where I wanted them

One by one I picked them up and added large sticky pads to them, peeled off the backing paper and secured to the card.

Once all 4 were in place I took the sentiment from the sheet – it was not all used up – and the sentiment was then stuck with double sided tape to a scrap of patterned mirri card – I trimmed it by hand and then punched the corners with a small fancy corner punch – then noticed the silver card wasn't cut straight – while trying to make it good I cut too close to the sentiment so all that was left was to crop away the silver – added large sticky pads and then stuck to a piece of dark blue card that I had already cut to size with the deckle edge trimmer – I noticed then that the corners hadn't been removed on the silver card but they looked pretty good – a happy accident!!!

This panel was positioned across the top of all 4 toppers and held in place with large sticky pads.

It was then down to decorating the panels – I used the glue pen and glamour dust and on a couple of panels I added a few dots of glossy accents.

Everyone in class loved this card and declared they would certainly have a go at something similar with their left overs....I hope they do as this looks like a quality expensive card – or I think it does!

Pink Candle Easel

Hi there...

I bought this kit from www.cardmakingdownloads.com and its designed by Cards2craft

The kit comes with 8 sheets in all which does include 2 sheets for the envelope and a sheet of backing paper

So materials for this card I used ….

Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...

White A4 card

The printed sheets

Crafters Companion Stick & Stay

Sakura quickie glue pen

Glamour dust iridescent glitter

Glossy accents

Double sided tape

Sticky pads

Eazi Score Board & tool

Tonic 8” guillotine

Scissors

Tweezers

Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com

Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat

To make the card ...

I roughly cut the base card out, sprayed the back with Crafters Companion stick and stay (its the red can)

Next I cut out the main card design then used the eazi score board and tool to score a line down the centre line and also across the centre of the op piece and folded it – run the tool along the fold to sharpen the edges.

Once I had the sharp folds it was my easel card base ready!

I did the base first so cut out the larger section and stuck onto a scrap of card and cut out – this was then had large sticky pads added to the back and placed on the base.

Then the sentiment had large sticky pads added and placed over the large base section.

Onto the card front, it was cut out all the decoupage layers and add large sticky pads to the 1st layer then smaller sticky pads to the remaining layers – I shaped the top layers using the shaping tool and foam mat then small sticky pads used to secure to the card.

To decorate I used the quickie glue pen and glitter to highlight parts and then glossy accents to the dripping wax of the candles

This is an unusual colour for a christmas card but pretty all the same – these days there are all manner of colours for christmas trees so I suppose a deep pink card isn't really out of place!

You may well notice I didn't add a card yesterday (2nd Oct) this was due to not having any internet so totally out of my control

So see you later today hopefully with the next card!

Bath Time...

Hi there...

Got a great card to share today...its one of my favourite times of the day too – bath time!!

I bought this kit from www.cardmakingdownloads.com and its designed by Evelyn Watts

The kit comes with main card, decoupage, choice of 2 inserts, 2 sheets to make up the envelope and a backing paper

So materials for this card I used ….

Heat mat to work on and protect your surface – I always use it...

White A4 card

The printed sheets

Crafters Companion Stick & Stay

Sakura quickie glue pen

Glamour dust iridescent glitter

Glossy accents

Double sided tape

Sticky pads

Eazi Score Board & tool

Tonic 8” guillotine

Scissors

Tweezers

Shaping tool from www.dimensionstamps.com

Foam shaping mat – stamping mat or even a mouse mat

To make the card ...

I roughly cut the base card out, sprayed the back with Crafters Companion stick and stay (its the red can)

Next I cut out the main card design then used the eazi score board and tool to score a line down the centre and folded it – run the tool along the fold to sharpen it

As this is a shaped card I made sure that the card was trimmed all the way round on both sides

I know a lot of people print the backing paper to go on the inside of the card but personally I never bother as by the time an insert is in place you really only see the very outer edges of the card blank.

I chose 1 of the pre printed inserts which reads “Have a relaxing day” so it really is suitable for any age and any event don't you think?

So the insert was cut out and then folded with a bone folder tool to give the sharp fold – I stuck this into the card blank using a small piece of double sided tape.

Next it was the decoupage – so easy to cut out as it was big pieces...I placed it all face down on the foam mat and using the shaping tool I ran it across all the pieces to shape then added small and thin sticky pads

After all the decoupage was added it was just the envelope to make – I cut out both sections and scored then folded all the score lines

Next I added wide double sided tape to all the flaps, peel off the backing tape and secured the two pieces carefully.

To decorate the card I used glossy accents on the beards nose and ears as well as baby powder, the duck and shower head.

When that was all dry I added more glossy accents to all the bubbles from the bath then sprinkled on glamour dust

I left the excess glamour dust in place till the next day so as not to smudge or mark the glossy accents.

I know I say this almost every day but I really like this card – then again I would do wouldn't I?

After all who would make card after card to show on a blog ad not like them?

Right time for my long hot bubble bath and a relax....mmmm

See you tomorrow

x
