Hello again

Today the card I'm showing is one I made a couple of weeks ago for the lovely Beth and her hubby Mike

They have been so good to us despite us only knowing each other a few months

When we were pacing for the move they offered to help – and then when we were bringing bags and boxes to the bungalow almost daily they both drove their cars and helped us so it was a 3 car load instead of just the one

And NEVER did they take a penny from us – whether it be for fuel or bridge fees

And since then our friendship has grown stronger and stronger, we go out for lunch or dinner almost weekly and Beth & I spend a lot of time chatting either on facebook or the phone

So when I saw this fab owl thank you sheet I decided it was for them

The sheet was a free sheet in with a magazine and was from craftsuprint

Making the card was easy as it really was just a case of cut up the sheet – this is a long or is it large DL, so I used a lovely dark blue shimmer card, then added a piece of lovely patterned gold mirri card, at the right hand side I punched the corners using a Martha Stewart bird punch, then wrapped a length of narrow brown gingham ribbon around and tied a bow

That gold panel was stuck to the main card with double sided tape.

To decorate the card I added clear AB gems to the flowers, glossy accents to the eyes and when that was dry I sprayed the card front with Crafters Companion iridescent glitter spray

I added a beautiful verse to the insert which was all to do with friendships and thank you's

All in all the card was cute when finished and I know Beth and Mike loved it too!

Liverpool

Hello again

This is another of the cards I made to help my lovely friend Beth out when she was bogged down with card orders

She was asked to do 2 Liverpool cards for a 10yr old, I had already found some images and made a topper and some papers for Beth thinking she had just the one card to do so when she asked would I like to make the 2^nd Liverpool one I set about finding another suitable image

I made a pyramid topper and a couple of different backing papers using PSP

After sitting and looking at what I had I decided to do a centre stepper card

Thank goodness for Hougie – it certainly makes light work of stepper cards of all styles.

Once I have the centre stepper cut out, scored and folded in bright red card I trimmed off one of the backing papers and covered the sides, front and centre step leaving just a narrow border.
The pyramid was cut out and matted onto gold card – the layers were built up using sticky pads.

Once the topper was finished it was attached to the back centre step with double sided tape

Using the large alphabet stamps from www.dimensionstamps.co.uk I stamped with black ink onto another of the home made backing papers, I spelt out the name, cut out the letters then proceeded to triple emboss each letter – to do that I covered the letter with Versamark and then sprinkled with UTEE (Ultra thick embossing enamel) and heated it up from underneath – then repeated it 3 times on each letter to give a lovely glassy look.

The letters were then attached to the bottom front of the card using string sticky pads.

I used the number stamps again from Dimension Stamps but this time I used versamark ink stamped onto gold magic foil, covered with clear embossing powder and heated it up. Once cool I cut out the number 10 and this was stuck onto the middle step with sticky pads.

Peel off borders were used around the edges of the backing paper then Happy Birthday and Son peel offs to finish.

I printed a suitable verse onto white paper then coloured with distress inks and brushes to give a mottled effect!

I believe the card was ideal and the 10 year old loved it!

I have to say I quite enjoyed making it too!!

Wedding Die/Die-cut Help

Hello, its me again

I'm looking for some help please...

A few days ago I blogged the wedding card I made to help out a friend...

Well she has been asked if there was any chance of another like it

Of course I would happily make of share the materials so Beth could make it – but – and here is where you are needed – I cant find a bride and groom like the one in this picture

Now I don't mind if its a die or die-cuts..and I realise this is the main silhouette figures and then the clothing

I have searched with Goggle and also scoured Ebay but no joy so I am hoping someone out there reading this will be able to point me in the right direction

A Trio of Owls

Hello again

Sorry there wasn't a card yesterday – we left class and popped into Asda for one or two things which turned into 4 carriers of things so as a result we didnt get home until around 10.30pm, then Pete had to walk the dogs while I made us some tea and after that it was nigh on midnight and I was past it!

I do have a card for today, it was what we made in class last night and will be making at the class tomorrow night.

I used a mini kit that was bought from craftsuprint and was designed by Gillian Hutchinson, its a main sheet and a decoupage sheet.

I had the sheets printed ready to cut out last Thursday in class and the ladies loved it and asked for it as a project so that was how it came about.

The photo's are showing the original card, I took everything to the class last night and sadly the branch punch gave up on us – one minute it was fine then the next it was ripping the card to bits.

So today I had to make up a 2^nd card using a different punch for the left edge – and that is the only difference in the 2 cards.

So its an 8x8 cream scallop edge card blank, the pale green card was cut punched down the left edge then cut down to fit the card front – before sticking to the card I punched the top and bottom right hand corners with the bird punch then stuck the panel down using double sided tape.

The base image was cut out – I printed this a size smaller so it would fit the 8x8 card neatly – once cut out I nipped the 4 cards with the corner punch and then stuck in place with double sided tape.

The decoupage was cut out and attached to the main image using small sticky pads.

Once all the decoupage was cut out and put in place I trimmed a sliver of gold down then a piece of the waste green card, I used the bird punch on either end of the green card

Next it was a case of sticking the sentiment to the green card using double sided tape then that was stuck to the gold card with sticky pads and finally stuck to the card front with double sided tape.

A small lemon bow was tied and added to the top right hand corner

Using a Sakura quickie glue pen I highlighted the white parts of the V on the head and covered with glitter!

I added an insert that was made up of 2 sheets of paper, trimmed together, then the 4 corners punched out using the bird punch again!

Its certainly a bright card that will add a smile to anyone's face!

I will have the 2 of these going into the use or sell box so if anyone's interested let me know

A birthday cupcake

Hello again

I saw this kit on one of the download sites and thought it would make a great quick and easy card that would allow for my own decoration

Sadly there are no names or details on the sheet to give credit to the designer.

For this card I simply folded an A4 sheet of white card in half then cut off the bottom to create my square card blank

The card front fitted well – it was stuck in place with double sided tape.

I then rounded the corners using the corner chomper.

The decoupage elements were so easy to cut out and they were attached to the card with large sticky pads

I had once bought a pack of cupcake brads – I have this thing about brads – I'm always buying them and rarely get to use them – or is it rarely bare to use them

Anyway the brad fitted in the top right hand corner..the colours were a great match with the whole card front.

The only downside was this kit didn't offer any sentiments so I found one I had printed some time ago and it worked really well.

I put the sentiment on the border across the bottom

I may have gone a little over the top with the decorations though...I used clear flat back gems for around the circular main image and then small flat back coloured gems were stuck on the card to represent iced shapes.

The last I did to the card front was add a touch of glitter and then glossy accents were used on the candle and flame

As this came with a blank half insert I just printed a little message before printing

This card was sent to a lady at the new card class I go to for her birthday last weekend.

Bride & Groom

Hello again

This is a card I put together last week to help my lovely friend Beth out – she had card orders and I had free time so it was lovely to help out a friend!

I used an 8x8 scalloped card blank and started by cutting a sheet of light dusty pink self adhesive shimmer paper to act as the background using a large scallop square nestability die.

Next I coloured the outer edges of the card on all 4 sides with Tim Holtz Shaded Lilac ink pad.

Once the self adhesive panel was firmly in place I typed out a verse and added the bride and grooms names, then cut out using a smaller nestability and placing in the top left of the card.

I had a bride and groom dressed die cut in my collection – sorry but have no idea where they came from but if anyone knows where I can buy them ready cut or better still the dies please do let me know..

I stuck the groom in place first, down the right hand side then attached the bride along side him.

In my collection of silk flowers I found a beautiful small spray that worked so well, it was attached with a small blob of pinflare gel, placed just to the left of the bride and below the verse.

To decorate the bridal gown I used beautiful pearls in several different sizes, the embossed design of the gown had a series of circles so the pearls fitted well.

It was already highlighted with glitter and there was the silk flower in the hair so I just added a few flower bits to the bouquet and a single pearl.

Small white AB pearls were attached to each corner of the verse and white with silver card candy was placed in the corners of the self adhesive panel.

I printed out 2 sheets of pretty pink patterned backing paper from Kanban Seasons cd then put back into the printer and added a verse to the right hand piece to finish this simple but stunning card

I know Beth was delighted with it and I'm pretty sure the person it was made for will be too!

MDF Oval Decorated

Hello

Back to reality now – just Pete & I...oh together with 2 dogs and 5 birds of prey, not forgetting the lovely ferret and 2 fish!!!

But the lad has gone home and not coming to stay again for a few weeks...but it was lovely having him here and the weather meant we could do things rather than him have to stay and play indoors for 3 or 4 days and nights.

So today I want to share something I had to do as part of a swap...on my forum I signed up for the egg swap – so was sent an MDF egg that I had to decorate and send off to my chosen partner, as it was an egg and it was due to be sent out by Easter you can imagine what I was going to do with it

But things got in the way – firstly I went into hospital for the knee surgery and not long out when we began packing for the big house move

So sadly the egg just got moved from here to there and back again...I did make a start before I moved – I painted it yellow!

But as my partner had been so patient with me I decided last weekend as I was on my own I would get it done and ready to send off

I saw the perfect design for the egg shape

And thats where the EGG part of it stopped...it is now an oval shape.

I used the fabulous fashion cd from Katy Sue/House of Zandra and design number 3.

Its a beautiful orange design and it was the correct shape and size for the oval...

So I printed off the decoupage sheet and started by sticking the base image to the oval shape and trimmed around it, the decoupage isn't oval but the bottom part fitted perfect and the top was blank anyway.

I cut out the sections of decoupage and added then using pinflare glue – with the top few layers I carefully shaped them then added larger blobs of pinflare so the dress had a rounded look to the skirt part.

For the flip side I printed off a pretty lightly patterned backing paper from the lovely Kanban Seasons cd, I went for a pale cream background with coffee coloured pattern, I stuck this to the mdf using cosmic shimmer PVA glue then as with the front I trimmed off the over hang

I printed off a sheet of matching handbag toppers and a sheet of hat toppers

The toppers offered 6 different shapes but luckily the hat and the bag were the same size in all 6 toppers so I just cut out 2 of each, used one as the base image and made the 2^nd decoupaged, again I shaped the top piece to give a lovely effect.

So now I had a mainly orange oval so I used a bright orange Aqua marker, I edged the front and back of the oval and then carefully covered the MDF too.

So how to hang it now – I was going to simply slot ribbon through but felt it needed something with a little WOW to it so out came the jewellery making gear and I carefully put together a lovely handbag charm in orange and yellow beads and then added charms to match the theme so dress, hat, bag and a show...the bag charm could be used to hang the oval or removed and used on a bag..

The oval swap was finally sent to my partner Janice who sent me a message to say it was well worth the wait...

Job done!

I thoroughly enjoyed making it in the end and its a good feeling when the recipient likes it and knows how much thought and effort went into making it for her.
